Kolkata/UNI: Rohan Mitra, son of late state Congress president Somen Mitra, has resigned from the post of General Secretary of the Provincial Congress.

In a letter, Rohan Mitra also slammed party president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and claimed that there were no visible signs of revival of the party in Bengal shortly.

“The sycophants surrounding you have not only brought your downfall but also led to the ultimate downfall of the party in the state with no visible signs of revival soon,” Rohan Mitra alleged.

" Adhir Chowdhury is a worthy leader. But those who are going with it, have no acceptance. That is why this is the condition of Congress.

Even after the defeat in the assembly polls, there is no attempt to reorganize the Congress, " the letter maintained.

However, there had been no immediate reaction either from the party or some other quarters regarding Mitra's resignation so far. State Congress President Adhir Chowdhury has called a meeting with the provincial leaders later today.
