Kolkata/UNI: Police on Friday arrested an alleged underground arms dealer while he was smuggling 8 guns and some 200 bullets from neighbouring Jharkhand into the poll-bound West Bengal.

Following a tip-off, a special task force, in association with Dankuni police station, during frisking at toll plaza in a Kolkata-bound bus from Jharkhand arrested Brij Kishor Tiwary and seized the arms and ammunition from him.

He was carrying 7 one-shot guns, an automatic weapon and 200 bullets.

The accused is a resident of Torla village under Rehela police station under Palamu district of Jharkhand.

Bengal will go for a 3rd phase poll on April 6.
