Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Presidents, Nepal PM to attend Modi's oath-taking ceremony

New Delhi, May 28 (UNI): President of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid, his Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Ministers of Mauritius and Nepal Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and K.P. Sharma Oli respectively will attend the ceremony in which Narendra Modi with take path as the Prime Minister of India on May 30.

According to an MEA spokesman, Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, U Win Myint, President of Myanmar, Dr Lotay Tshering, Prime Minister of Bhutan and Grisada Boonrach, Special Envoy of Thailand, have also confirmed their participation.

"We look forward to receiving the dignitaries in New Delhi for the ceremony. We will keep you abreast of any related developments, including bilateral engagements, in due course," the spokesman said.

On Monday, Prime Minister Modi has invited government and nation heads of the BIMSTEC member states for his swearing-in on May 30.

"Government of India has invited the leaders of the BIMSTEC Member States for the swearing-in ceremony. This is in line with Government's focus on its 'Neighbourhood First' policy," the MEA spokesman said.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov, who is the current Chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, is also coming.

In 2014, Mr Modi had invited all SAARC nation and government heads for the swearing in ceremony.
