Bangladesh PM to visit India tomorrow to attend Suvra Mukherjee's funeral

Dhaka, Aug 18 (IBNS) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit New Delhi on Wednesday to attend the funeral of President Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee, media reports said.

Pranab Mukherjee shares close ties with Bangladesh's founding father  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s family.

Hasina will return to Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon after the funeral, Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim was quoted as saying by bdnews24.com.

"Her sister Sheikh Rehana and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will accompany the prime minister," the website reported.

The Indian First Lady, Suvra Mukherjee, passed away on Tuesday.

Suvra Mukherjee suffered a cardiac arrest on Aug 7 and was admitted to ICU of Army Hospital (R&R) same day.

Suvra Mukherjee was born on Sept 17, 1940 in Jessore and married Pranab Mukherjee on July 13, 1957.

She was a vocalist of Rabindra Sangeet and founded the ‘Geetanjali Troupe’.
