Ban on websites without not featuring child pornography lifted

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IBNS): Amid criticisms, the government has directed internet services providers to lift ban on several websites that did not feature child pornographic content, media reports said.

More than 800 porn websites were earlier blocked by internet services providers in the country.

According to reports, the move was made after an order was given by the Government of India, media reports said.

Slamming the move, writer Chetan Bhagat earlier tweeted: "Porn ban is anti-freedom, impractical, not enforceable. Politically not very smart too. avoidable. Let's not manage people's private lives."

"Don't ban porn. Ban men ogling, leering, brushing past, groping, molesting, abusing, humiliating and raping women. Ban non-consent. Not sex," he said.

Actress Sonam Kapoor tweeted, " Ban idiots who think banning things is going to make a difference to Indian mentality.. #sooverthisgovt #NextBanIdea #sick #ashamed."

Actor Uday Chopra said: "What would you like to ban next? I think everyone should have a say. Hashtag ur answers with #Nextban."
