Ayodhya: Tense moments at Ram Temple after Kashmiri man tries to offer namaz inside complex

| @indiablooms | Jan 11, 2026, at 03:41 pm

A Kashmiri man was arrested after allegedly attempting to offer namaz inside the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya, sources told India Today.

The individual has been identified as Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Shopian district in Kashmir.

According to officials, Sheikh entered the high-security temple premises on Friday, visited the shrine, and later sat near the Sita Rasoi area, where he was allegedly preparing to offer namaz.

Temple staff noticed his actions and detained him before handing him over to the police for further questioning.

Intelligence agencies are currently questioning Sheikh to ascertain his intent and whether he posed any security threat.

Meanwhile, Sheikh’s family has reportedly claimed that he is mentally ill and has shared medical records from the psychiatry department of Srinagar Medical College to support their assertion.
