Kasaragod, Nov 11 (UNI) In order to prevent any untoward incidents following the Supreme Court Verdict on Ayodhya land dispute case on Saturday, the Kasaragod Police on Monday clamped prohibitory order under section 144 of CrPC in 9 police station limits in this district.

The prohibitory order was issued under Sec. 78 and 79 of the Kerala Police Act and it will be in force till November 14, District Police Chief James Joseph said.

The order will cover the communally sensitive areas of Kumbala, Kasaragod, Manjeswaram, Bekal, Mepparamba, Neeleswaram, Vidhyanagar, Chandera and Hosdurg.

The prohibitory order issued by the district collector under Sec 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) ahead of the Ayodhya verdict had been withdrawn on Sunday.

The new prohibitory order under the Police Act restricts the assembly of more than five persons besides holding protest marches and public meetings.
