Mumbai, Apr 11 (IBNS) Actress Ayesha Takia Azmi on Friday slammed her father-in-law and Samajwadi Party (SP)'s Maharashtra unit chief Abu Azmi for his controversial statement on pre-marital sex.

"If wot im reading about my father in laws statements r true then me and Farhan are deeply embarrassed n ashamed," tweeted Ayesha.

"We surely do nottt share this mindset...its disrespectful to women.if these statements r true then its sad," she posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Abu Azmi has sparked a controversy by saying that men and women who have sex out of the wedlock should be stoned to death.

"Look at the boys and girls today. They roam around together, live together. No religion supports such crime," Abu Azmi said.

"We need to handle this strictly. Both men and women, who have sex out of marriage, should be stoned to death. Even if the woman is forced to have sex, she will have to undergo the same punishment," he said.
