Ahmedabad: Australian PM  Anthony Albanese on Saturday praised his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for making all efforts to make his delegates feel welcome in the country.

"Thank you to Prime Minister @narendramodi for the extraordinary effort to make my Australian delegation to feel welcome in India. Having the pleasure of hearing The Triffids and The Go Betweens on the sitar was unexpected and extremely touching," he tweeted.

The PM said he had visited India in 1991 as a backpacker.

" India has changed a lot since I was a backpacker here in 1991. But the warmth of the Indian people is as strong as ever," he said.

"We’ve forged a deeper connection between Australia and India, from education and culture to defence and trade," he said.

Albanese visited India from Mar 8 to 11.

This was Prime Minister Albanese’s first visit to India in his current role.
