Assembly polls: Voting begins in UP, Uttarakhand

New Delhi/Lucknow, Feb 15 (IBNS): Voting is currently going on in 67 Assembly constituencies of western Uttar Pradesh and in 69 Assembly seats in Uttarakhand as people are all set to select new legislators in the states.

UP is voting in the second of seven phases of polling.

The main fight in the Uttar Pradesh is going on between the Samajwadi Party and the BJP.

In the first phase, UP voted in 73 assembly seats.

64.22 per cent voters had cast their votes on Feb 11.

Five more phases of voting will take place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people in both the states to cast their votes.
