Assamese IPS officer now heads NIA team into Bhopal-Ujjain blast probe

Guwahati, Mar 18 (IBNS): An Assamese IPS officer is now heading the investigation team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the Bhopal-Ujjain train blast, which took place on March 7 last.

The blast is believed as the first suspected ISIS attack in the country.

Assam cadre IPS office Sanjukta Parashar, who was known for her immense courage and incredible work of fighting against the Bodo militants, is now taking charge of the NIA investigation team heading into the train blast incident, triggered by the suspected ISIS terrorists that lead to at least ten people getting injured.

Sanjukta had recently visited Sujalpur area, where suspected ISIS terrorists triggered the blast and started probe of first suspected ISIS attack in the country.

The brave IPS officer of Assam of 2006 batch was first posted as the Assistant Commandent in Makum in 2008.

Sanjukta had completed her graduation in political science from Indraprastha College under Delhi University and completed post graduation in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

She also earned an M.Phil followed by PhD in US foreign policy.

The Assam cadre IPS officer took down at least 16 Bodo militants and arrested over 64 others and seizing huge cache of arms and ammunition of the tribal outfit group.

She led the counter insurgency operation against the tribal militants in her earlier assignment as the Superintendent of Police in northern Assam’s Sonitpur district.

Recently, Sanjukta took charge as the NIA SP on deputation.
