Assam: Woman falls in deep gorge, body fished out by locals

Guwahati/IBNS: Locals fished out the body of a woman from a deep gorge nearby an embankment in Assam’s Biswanath district on Friday.

The incident took place at Jhulapara area in the northern Assam district where a woman fell into a deep gorge nearby the Biswanath-Panpur embankment and drowned on Thursday evening.

Following the incident, locals immediately informed local police.

On Friday, they tried to find out the missing woman in the water and it was then some used fishing net to pull out the body.

Later, locals and police recovered the body of the woman who is yet to be identified.

A police officer said that after receiving the information they called SDRF team for rescuing the missing woman.

“In the meantime, some locals had found the body by using fishing net. Identity of the woman is yet to be known,” the police officer said.
