Assam: Two KPLT militants injured, arms recovered during gun battle with police

Guwahati, Oct 20 (IBNS) : Two Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) militants were injured in a gun battle with security forces in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Monday, police said.

Security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the encounter spot.

Following a tip-off, the police had launched an operation at Langlakso area in the hill district, where a militant group was hiding.

“When the police personnel reached the remote area, the militants fired and bullets were exchanged, in which two militants were injured,” Karbi Anglong district SP Mugdhajyoti Mahanta said.


The injured militant duo had managed to escape from the area.


The police have recovered one AK-47 rifle, two pistols, ammunition from the encounter spot.


Top police and army officials have rushed to the remote area and they launched a search operation to nab the militant duo.
