Assam student group regularly feeds needy people amid lockdown

Guwahati/IBNS: Amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown, a group of students of Rangapara area in Assam’s Sonitpur district has come forward to help the poor and needy people.

The student group are feeding many poor and needy people daily since the lockdown was announced by the government.

About 200 poor and needy people are being fed regularly at NF Railway Mazdoor Union, Rangapara branch premises by the student groups under the guidance of some railway officials.

Some locals said that nobody from the government side has come to visit the same to encourage these dynamic youths engaged in "great work towards humanity carrying a banner of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with them."

Puja Choudhury and Puja Sahani who are active members of this feeding drive said that they are helped and encouraged by some officials of NF Railway Mazdoor Union, Rangapara and some other local people to continue this special feeding drive.

“We cook the meal for these needy people at home regularly and distribute it among them by following all guidelines issued by the government,” Puja Choudhury said.

On the other hand, Puja Sahani said that, it is their duty to help the needy people during the crisis hours.
