Assam: Naga extremist injured in police firing

Guwahati, Oct 4 (IBNS) : A Naga extremist was seriously injured in police firing when he tried to deliver a consignment of arms in Assam's Guwahati on Saturday evening, police said.

The incident took place at Chanmari area in the city.

A Naga militant was injured in police firing when three militants of NSCN (IM) had tried to deliver the consignment of arms in Guwahati.

“Based on intelligence input, a team of city police launched operation at Chanmari area in the city. When police reached the area, the militants had tried to flee from the area and forced us to fire, in which a militant was injured and other two had managed to flee,” a top police official said.

The police recovered a 9mm pistol and ammunition in possession from the injured militant who was identified as Semual Bora.

The police had launched a search operation in the city to nab the fled militants.
