Assam Madrasas benefited by terror funding: IB, several institutions in police radar

Guwahati, Jan 28 (IBNS) : Several Madrasas of Assam are in radar under the Assam police and other security agencies which were benefited by terror funding.

Following the Intelligence Bureau (IB) report, Assam police and other security agencies have been launched operation against the terror funded Madrasas.

A top official of Assam police said that, the Assam police have been taken the matter seriously.

Meanwhile, the IB report which submitted to Union Home ministry recently said that, jihadi activities in Assam and West Bengal raised full grown and it is serious threat to the nation.

“In past five years, over 3,000 Madrasas were set up along the bordering areas of Assam and West Bengal with Bangladesh. Some jihadi organizations have used such educational institutions as their base camp and also training camps,” top IB official said.

“The jihadi organizations including terror groups Neo Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, Indian Mujahideen (IM), MULTA, MULFA had in touch with ISIS and trying to form a united forum for North East India and Bangladesh,” the IB official said.

The top IB official further said that, these terror groups have also tried to set up launching pads along the Myanmar-Bangladesh border.

The IB report also said that, over 150 youths of Assam are in touch with ISIS and some organizations are trying to set up ISIS base, spreading network in the north eastern Indian state.

Security agencies had apprehended 40 jihadis including 24 of JMB, six of MTFA were apprehended by the security forces from different areas of the state.


The major security issue was raised during a high level meeting held in Guwahati earlier this month in presence of Assam DGP, the Union Home Secretary (NE), top officials of army, IB.
