Guwahati, Sept 7 (IBNS) : An Assam legislator was booked in connection with the rape of his domestic help, police said.

An FIR has been lodged against Assam opposition AIUDF MLA Gopinath Das of Boko assembly constituency over rape charges.

A 14-year-old girl had filed the FIR with Mandira outpost under Boko police station in Kamrup (Rural) district on August 29 and said that she was raped by the MLA in his car in Guwahati.

The complaint was transferred to the Boko police station on Sunday night and it was registered with case number 514/2015 under section 343 IPC and under section 4/8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

The victim said  she had served as a domestic helper at the house of the MLA.

On other hand, the accused MLA has refused the allegation and said it was a conspiracy against him.

“The investigation will prove that the allegation was false,” the MLA said.

On Monday, many organizations had demanded to arrest the accused MLA immediately and give justice to the victim girl.
