Assam Governor felicitates environmentalist Purnima Devi Barman

Guwahati, June 9 (IBNS): Acknowledging her role she has been putting in for the conservation of the greater adjutant stork which is also known as Hargilla, Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Friday felicitated environmentalist Purnima Devi Barman at a simple function held at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati.

Purnima Barman launched a crusade for conservation of Adjutant Stork and she has been working at Pacharia, Dadara and Singimari villages of Kamrup district for the protection of the species.

It may also be noted that in recognition to her works for conservation of greater adjutant stork, Purnima was conferred on Whitely Awards which is also known as Green Oscars.
        
Hailing the efforts of Purnima, Governor Purohit said her unflappable works for conservation augurs well for creating a congenial ambience and a friendly and sensible pool of human forces for conservation of greater adjutant stork.

He also said that Purnima’s actions are source of encouragement for others to take conservation activities for the greater adjutant stock in full throttle and renders a fresh lease of life to the environment.

Purohit wished Purnima all luck in her endeavour and assured all help in her campaign for conservation of the greater adjutant stork.
