Assam flood: Around 8 lakh people of 13 districts still affected

Guwahati, Jul 30 (IBNS): The flood situation in Assam has gradually improved after the water levels in the flood-hit areas have receded, but still, around 8 lakh people of 13 districts in the state are affected in the current flood.

At least 88 people have lost their lives due to flood and landslide in the state this year so far.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 864 number of villages in 29 revenue circles and 69,951 hectares of cropland are still underwater.

Among the flood-affected people, over 5.68 lakh people belong to Barpeta district and 1.40 lakh people are from Morigaon district.
