Assam : Congress suspends four MLAs, show cause notice to five others for anti-party activities

Guwahati, Aug 31 (IBNS) : Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta on Sunday suspended four MLAs of the party and issued show cause notice to five other MLAs for anti-party activities, the party officials said on Monday.

APCC spokesman Apurba Bhattacharya said the suspended MLAs are Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Pradan Baruah and Pallav Lochan Das.

The party has issued show cause notice to Bolin Chetia, Rajen Borthakur, Kipanath Mallah, Abu Taher Bepari and Binanda Kumar Saikia.

They were asked to reply within 15 days.

APCC had took action against the nine MLA's of the party who welcomed their colleague Himanta Biswa Sarma at Borjhar airport when the former Health and Education Minister of the Tarun Gogoi- led government returned to Guwahati from Delhi to join BJP.
