Assam: 50 villagers fall ill after consuming prasad in Charaideo

Guwahati/IBNS: At least 50 people fell ill after consuming prasad at a religious function in Assam’s Charaideo district.

According to the reports, a villager of No 2 Lahon village had organized the event at his house and distributed prasad among the other villagers and soon after consuming the prasad, the people complained of stomach ache and vomiting.

At least 50 people including several children were immediately admitted to the Geleki Block Primary Health Centre and police suspected it as food poisoning.

A top police official of Charaideo district said police have started investigation and seized the remaining stock of gram from the shop from where the villager had procured it.
