Assam: 2 cops killed in encounter
Guwahati, June 6 (IBNS): Two policemen were killed during an encounter with suspected Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants at Rumpung area along the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya on Thursday, reports said.
The deceased were identified as Hamren Police district Superintendent of Police Nityananda Goswami and one of his personal security officer (PSO) Rahul Nunisa.
Their bodies were recovered by security forces on Friday.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has asked security officials to take strong action against militants.
