New Delhi/IBNS: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, arrested in a drugs case, has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by a Mumbai court.

Aryan and seven others, arrested during a rave party in a cruise ship, were produced before Killa court on Thursday.

"I am of the view that no custodial interrogation is required as sufficient time was given," the judge said.

Within minutes, Aryan Khan's lawyer moved a petition for bail, which will be heard on Friday.

However, the 23-year-old and the other accused will spend the night at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office, since the transfer hours for the jail is over and the mandatory Covid test is not done.

His parents-Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan-were not present in the court.

Aryan and seven others were arrested after a raid at a party on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai Saturday night by the NCB.

Though no drugs were found on him, the drug-control agency, while applying for extended custody, had made the case that his WhatsApp chats suggested involvement of international drug cartels and needed deeper scrutiny.

Aryan also has to be confronted with a couple of men who have been arrested, the agency stated in the court.

“We have arrested one Achit Kumar and one foreign national and WhatsApp chats of these accused clearly shows the nexus between them, so custody is needed,” stated NCB’s remand copy.

His lawyer Satish Manshinde, however, made the argument that no drugs were found on him and he cannot be held responsible for the seizures made from others.
