Arunachal Pradesh police bust insurgent camp, recover arms-ammo

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh police have busted an insurinsurgent group camp along the Indo-Myanmar border and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition

According to an official of the Arunachal Pradesh police,  the nefarious activities of the insurgent group named ENNG have been on the radar of the police for the past few months.

"To counter the threat posed by them, a strategy was evolved for necessary action. Under the leadership of the DGP, Arunachal Pradesh, a plan was formulated by Chukhu Apa, IGP (L&O) and, executed by SP Changlang Mihin Gambo and SP of STF Rohit Rajbir Singh, along with a team of STF and Changlang police, wherein an assault was launched by Arunachal Pradesh police over the camp occupied by insurgents in the general area of Lungpang under Rima Putok Circle in district near the Indo-Myanmar border, upon receipt of credible information. The Arunachal Pradesh police team on February 22  conducted the operation, 5 suspected insurgents were spotted. Thus, in Thursday's operation, a controlled offensive in the camp was mounted," State Task Force (STF) Superintendent of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh said.

"As a result, the insurgents were forced to abandon the camp and retreat," he said.

The top police official further said that upon ceasing operations, the camp was investigated for evidence and arms and ammunition were recovered.

The police team recovered one AK 47 rifle, one M 16 Rifle, one Hand Grenade, 104 rounds of AK 47 7.62 mm ammunition, 23 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, 4 numbers of AK 47 7.62 mm ammo magazines, two numbers of 5.56 mm ammo magazines, two numbers of Assault Daos, one set of Communication WT set and charger, one PAN Card in the name of Anthony Taidong, one Organization Rank Cap, 20 numbers of Lighters from the spot.

Furthermore, the camp was burned down and destroyed by the team.
