Arun Jaitley to present Modi govt's first full fledged budget

| | Feb 28, 2015, at 04:12 pm
New Delhi, Feb 28 (IBNS) Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present the General Budget on Saturday, his first full fledged one as all ears are on the finance minister's speech in a while in Parliament.

With expectations running high, it remains to be seen if the budget packs some big bang reforms or follows more a populist line.

The Economic Survey 2014-15 tabled in Parliament on Friday ahead of the General Budget said the GDP growth at constant market prices is expected to accelerate to between 8.1 and 8.5 percent in 2015-16, indicating that it is time for big bang reforms.

"It appears that India has reached a sweet spot and that there is a scope for Big Bang reforms now," said the Economic Survey.

He will be presenting his budget speech at 11 am.

The Finance Minister is facing the expectations of the Indian society who are looking forward to a low level of inflation, freedom from poverty and creation of employment..

Jaitley presented his maiden budget last year after the BJP-led government came to power at the Centre last year.
