Arun Jaitley presents Modi govt's first full fledged budget
New Delhi, Feb 28 (IBNS) Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at 11 am began presenting the General Budget 2015-16 on Saturday, his first full fledged.
He began saying that the world is predicting it is India's chance to fly and claimed that the Modi government has turned around the economy.
"Domestic and international see us with renewed interest and hope," said the FM.
He said the government has lived up to the trust of people and highlighted the Jan Dhan Yozna and coal auction proceeds that benefit the coal bearing states.
He said six crore toilets will be constructed in due course.
The Economic Survey 2014-15 tabled in Parliament on Friday ahead of the General Budget said the GDP growth at constant market prices is expected to accelerate to between 8.1 and 8.5 percent in 2015-16, indicating that it is time for big bang reforms.
"It appears that India has reached a sweet spot and that there is a scope for Big Bang reforms now," said the Economic Survey.
