Article 370 Abrogation: Outside labourers returning home, hampers construction works in Jammu
Jammu, Aug 9 (UNI) In the wake of abrogation of Article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the non-local labourers have started returning to their homes apprehending ‘law and order problem’, hampering many ongoing construction and repairs works in parts of Jammu district.
Pertinently, around 8,000 non-local labourers have already returned to their homes after they reached to Jammu from Kashmir Valley.
They had alleged that they were forced to leave Kashmir post abrogation of Article 370.
However, in Jammu as well, both skilled and non-skilled labourer class from different parts of the country, especially belong to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, have started shifting to their native places sensing ‘trouble’.
Although, Jammu is quite peaceful and normal life is as usual despite restrictions under Section 144 imposition, fear psychosis has gripped the labourers, which led to their ‘temporary’ migration.
"I was looking for a labourer to shift some items from market but surprisingly found none,"Dinesh Nargotra-a local trader said.
He added that ultimately, he hired a local ‘pandi’ from a grocery shop to shift his goods.
Abhay Anand, a local youth said that renovation work of their house was in progress but after restrictions imposed on Monday, it was stopped, adding, "On Thursday, after life limped back to normalcy despite Section 144 remained imposed, I have been to canal head, a hub of non local labourers, but there were hardly any."
