Jammu/UNI/IBNS: Indian Army on Monday neutralised three heavily armed Pakistan-trained terrorists and foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naushera sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources here said that three heavily armed intruders have been eliminated and major infiltration bid was foiled in Nausher sector.

They said that counter-infiltration operation reportedly started on May 28 and alert troops of Indian Army early on Monday morning successfully foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC.

The encounter was carried out jontly by J&K Police, Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). A search of the area is in progress, said an official.

This comes two days after two militants were killed by security forces in Wanpora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam.

On May 28, a 2019-like Pulwama car-attack was averted after security forces intercepted a vehicle loaded with 40-45 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a checkpoint in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police had said in a tweet: "A major incident of a vehicle-borne IED blast is averted by the timely input and action by Pulwama Police, CRPF and the Army."

Accrding to the army, there has been a spurt in infiltration bids by Pakistan-based terror outfits during the lockdown period to replenish the loss of militant cadres in the valley as the summer season is also the only favourable period for infiltration.
