Arms, explosives recovered in Assam ahead of PM's visit

Guwahati, Nov 27 (IBNS): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Assam visit, security forces recovered huge cache of arms-ammunition and explosives in the state on Thursday, police said.
Following a tip-off, the police recovered huge cache of explosives from a vehicle at Khanapara area in the outskirts of Guwahati on Thursday morning.
 
“The explosives were carried from Aizwal to Guwahati in a Tata Sumo,” a top police official said.
 
Police recovered 1800 detonators, 600 gelatin sticks, fuse wires from the vehicle and also arrested two persons.
 
In separate incident, security forces recovered 4 rocket launchers, one carbine, two grenades, two magazines and 30 rounds ammunition from Garsinga area near Sadia in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district.
 
In other hand, Assam police had arranged tight security in Guwahati city ahead of PM visit.
 
“All types of security have been arranged for PM, Union Home minister arrival in the city on November 29-30,” Assam police DGP Khagen Sarma said.
 
The PM and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will address the 49th DGP-IGP conference, which will be held on Nov 29-30 in Guwahati.
