Ansari was not invited for Yoga Day show: TV report

New Delhi, June 22 (IBNS): Vice President Hamid Ansari was not invited for the World Yoga Day demonstrations in New Delhi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers led the show, according an NDTV report on Monday.

The channel quoting the Vice-President's office said he was not invited for the show even though BJP general secretary Ram Madhav had first questioned his  absence with a tweet but later removed it and apologized.

While Madhav later said Ansari could not join because he was unwell, the channel quoting the VP's office said the report of  Ansari's illness was not correct and he was not invited in the first place.

"Vice President was not sick. He was never invited for the yoga programme," said  Ansari's office in a statement to NDTV. "The Vice President only attends those programmes in which the minister concerned invites him as per protocol."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday led the show on World Yoga Day.
