Angry parents protest Bangalore minor girl rape

Bangalore, July 19 (IBNS) Hundreds of parents in Bangalore hit the streets on Saturday protesting the alleged rape of a six-year old girl in an international school.

The girl was allegedly raped inside a well known international school of Bangalore, Vibgyor High School, on July 2 by two gym instructors who had been arrested later. The girl reported the matter to parents a few days later.

Armed with hand-written posters, sloganeering protesters demanded immediate action against the perpetrators.

Earlier on Thursday, angry parents had also stormed the school when the management refused to take responsibility of the incident though it happened during school hours. Later the school chairman came out and assured his cooperation.

The victim’s parents had gone to the school on Thursday evening as part of the probe into the incident.

Meanwhile, the authorities decided to close the school operation as parents had planned another round of protest on Saturday.

School chairman Rustam Kerawalla was on Thursday forced to come out and address parents who were turning violent.

"We have ensured that the staff are there to assist inquiry," he said, adding that  he would be meeting the victim's parents.

"I am waiting for the final conclusion from the authorities, investigation is on," said the school chairman.

"Whomsoever they are, they are with the police," he said, adding that as additional security measures CCTV installation has been discussed upon.
