Amit Shah dials Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, enquires about Cyclone damages, promises all help

Chennai/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah called up Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin to enquire about the damages caused due to Cyclone Michaung and promised to offer full support to the state in relief and rescue works.

An official release said during the telephonic talk, Stalin explained about the damages caused by the Cyclone and the relief works being undertaken by the government in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu district.

Stalin also informed the Union Minister that personnel from the NDRF along with the State government and police officials were jointly involved in relief works.

Stalin also urged Shah to dispatch additional NDRF personnel to the state for relief operations.

He also said after estimating the damages caused by the cyclone, necessary assistance would be sought from the Union Government.

Accepting Stalin's request, Shah promised that the Centre would offer all support to the state government in the relief works.

Eight people were killed and 12 others sustained injuries in various Cyclone induced rain-related incidents in Chennai city, police said on Tuesday.

A police release on traffic updates said eight deaths were reported and 12 people were admitted to hospitals following incidents of drowning and electrocution.

Three employees of the bunk were rescued so far and NDRF has joined in the operation along with Fire and rescue services department officials.
