All India Civil Defence and Home Guards Day celebrated in Guwahati

Guwahati, Dec 6 (IBNS): The Directorate General of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards, Assam have celebrated the All India Civil Defence and Home Guards Day at the Central Training Institute, Panikhaiti, Guwahati on Thursday.

Additional Chief Secretary, Assam government Kumar Sanjay Krishna attended the programme as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the function, the Additional Chief Secretary said that Civil Defence and Home Guards have played an important role by maintaining law and order during the times of disaster.

He added that the Civil Defence and Home Guards have been discharging selfless duties and services for the common people at large. He commended them for their service and hoped that they will continue to serve the people with greater zeal and enthusiasm.

At the outset of the programme, the Chief Guest was given the guard of honour by the parade contingents.

Additional Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna released a souvenir of the Civil Defence and Home Guards on the occasion.

He also gave away the President’s Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished service to Lakhiram Bordoloi, Dy. DCD & Dy. CGHG, Assam which was conferred on Aug 15.
