New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced that all schools in the national capital New Delhi will remain closed on Monday following heavy rains and warning from the Meteorological department.

Taking to twitter, Kejriwal wrote, "In view of the heavy rain lashing Delhi for last two days and warnings from the Meteorological department, all schools in Delhi will be closed for a day tomorrow (Monday)."

Earlier in the day, Delhi Education Minister Atishi directed senior departmental officers to conduct physical inspections of all schools in view of heavy rains and submit compliance report on any deficiencies in the school premises.

Kejriwal, in his official twitter handle, wrote Delhi received 126 mm of rains on Saturday. Fifteen percent of the total rainfall of the monsoon season fell in just 12 hours. The people were very upset due to water logging.

On Sunday, all the ministers and Mayor of Delhi inspected the problems of the areas. The officers of concerned departments have been instructed to go to the ground to check real situation and resolve the problems.
