Ludhiana/IBNS: A 50-year-old Air India staff, who was onboard a Delhi-Ludhiana flight on Monday, has tested positive for coronavirus, reports said.

He was among eleven people onboard the flight. However, his co-passengers' samples tested negative.

A total of 116 samples were taken for test on Monday as the domestic flight operation began after two months of halt following coronavirus lockdown.

The infected patient is a resident of Delhi and works as security staff for air India.

After he arrived at at the Sahnewal Airport, he was sent to a local isolation centre, while the others were sent on mandatory home quarantine.

Meanwhile, a passenger on a Chennai-Coimbatore IndiGo flight has also tested positive for the highly contagious virus.

Following this, IndiGo has grounded the entire crew for 14 days.

The Centre last week allowed one-third of domestic flights to operate from Monday. However, several states had requested to defer the resumption of the services over the rising concern of Coronavirus.

Issuing guidelines for the passengers, the Health Ministry on Sunday directed passengers to download the Aarogya Setu app on their mobile devices and asked states to ensure thermal screening at the departure point of airports, railway stations and bus terminals.
