Air India Express plane's wing damaged as it hits a pole in Andhra airport

Vijayawada/UNI/IBNS : The right wing of an Air India Express aircraft was damaged after it hit a high mast light pole in the Gannavaram International airport, here on Saturday.

Airport officials said that the Air India Express flight with 64 passengers on board hit the high mast light pole while going to its bay after landing in the airport.

"All 64 passengers on board the flight and the crew are safe," Vijayawada International Airport director G Madhusudan Rao said, reported NDTV.

The right wing of the aircraft was slightly damaged in the accident.

This is a minor incident and the aircraft suffered minor damage, officials said.

The officials are investigating the exact reason for the incident.

Air India Express, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India, is a low-cost career with a market share of 7.1 per cent in the country. It operates a fleet of 24 Boeing 737- 800 Next Generation aircraft.
