Agra: Girl dies, 7 injured as temple roof collapses

Agra: A girl was killed and seven others were injured when the roof of the varanda of a temple collapsed in Shahganj area of Agra district in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

Police sources here told UNI that the incident took place in the Shiva temple located in Radhe Wali Gali where 'Kanwar' was being offered by the devotees on the occasion of the fifth Monday of Shravan month in the morning.

"During that time, the dilapidated roof the temple's varanda collapsed and some women were buried under the debris," they said.

The sources said that the women buried under the debris were rescued by the local residents and were taken to the hospital where Jyoti died during treatment.

"Condition of Jyoti's mother Omwati is stated to be serious.

The injured include Omshri, Rani, Poonam, Keshu and Mithilesh," they added.
