AGM of Bank of Baroda arrested for accepting bribe

Mumbai, Mar 21 (IBNS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday said it has arrested an Assistant General Manager, Asset Recovery & Management Branch, Bank of Baroda in Mumbai for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant.

 "A case was registered u/s 7 of PC Act on the allegations that the AGM , Bank of Baroda demanded a bribe for passing the bills of a private company based at Thane (Maharashtra) who was appointed by Bank of Baroda  to recover bad debts. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant," the CBI said in a statement.

The probe agency said searches were conducted at the office and residence of the accused which led to recovery of cash around Rs. 3 lakhs ; about 10 tolas of gold ornaments and incriminating documents.

The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge, Mumbai on Saturday.
