After Sushma Swaraj's warning Amazon drops Indian flag-themed doormats from website

New Delhi, Jan 12 (IBNS) : After External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj threatened not to grant visas, Amazon has dropped Indian flag-themed doormats from its website, NDTV reported.

The report quoted an  Amazon spokesperson as saying last night that the  item is no longer available for sale on the site.

Swaraj on Wednesday warned e-commerce marketplace Amazon that its officials will not be granted Indian visas after its Canada branch was found selling doormats featuring the national flag.

She has asked Amazon Canada to withdraw the product featuring Indian national flag immediately.

"Amazon must tender unconditional apology. They must withdraw all products insulting our national flag immediately," Swaraj had tweeted.

"If this is not done forthwith, we will not grant Indian Visa to any Amazon official. We will also rescind the Visas issued earlier," it posted.

This came after Indian High Commission in Canada Atul Bhobe took up the issue to Swaraj tweeting, "Amazon Canada must be censured and warned not to sell India flag doormats. Please take action."
