After Kerala govt moves SC against CAA, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan seeks report
Thiruvananthapuram/IBNS: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has sought an explanation from the state government after it challenged the Citizenship Amendment Act in Supreme Court, media reports said.
Khan, who has been critical of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the implementation of CAA in Kerala, said it was "improper" that he was not infomed about the state government's move.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has sought a report from Chief Secretary as to why he was kept in the dark in the matter, an NDTV report said.
Khan had, earlier, told the media that the state government had the right to approach the Supreme Court, but it was "improper" to not inform him.
On Tuesday, the left-led government in the state became the first state government to move the Supreme Court on CAA. In the petition, the Kerala government has claimed that the CAA violated several provisions of the Constitution, including Articles 14, 21 and 25, and is against secularism as enshrined in the Constitution.
