New Delhi:  The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student's wing of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, registered a major victory in the Delhi University Students' Union polls.

The party won three out of the four posts.

It also grabbed the president's post.

ABVP's Akshit Dahiya won the seat by beating NSUI's Chetna Tyagi.

The NSUI, which is backed by the Congress, could only manage to win a seat in the polls.

ABVP's Pradeep Tanwar clinched the Vice President's post.

ABVP tweeted: "We thank all our well wishers, former karyakartas and everyone who lent their rock solid support to our candidates and karyakartas for the #DUSUElections2019. Without their support, this victory would not have been possible."

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan greeted the wing and tweeted: "Heartiest congratulations to Akshit, Pradeep and Shivangi, the youth brigade of @ABVPVoice for sweeping the #DUSUElections2019.The results are an indication of the political mood in the country. Nationalistic ideologies & ethos of #ABVP has made it a natural choice for the youth."
