Abhinandan’s capture mocked by Pakistani advertisement ahead of World Cup clash against India

New Delhi, June 11 (IBNS): Indian social media users criticisied an advertisement aired by a Pakistani channel which has mimicked the video released on Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman by Pakistani military after he was captured a day after the Balakot airstrike earlier this year.

The ad was reportedly aired by Pakistan's Jazz TV.

In the advertisement, a model,  who is made to look like the IAF officer wearing a Blue Jersey, answering questions on the camera.

The man in the advertisement could be seen repeating Abhinandan’s viral statement “I’m sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this” several times.

He answers them the statement when a voice is asking him questions on Indian team's toss strategy and playing XI.

The man could also be seen sipping tea from cup.

Amid escalating tension between India and Pakistan, Abhinandan Varthaman was taken into custody earlier this year after his MiG-21 jet was downed during an engagement along the Line of Control (LoC).

Pakistan later released him.

The advertisement is a part of the attempt made by the media to create a hype over the upcoming World Cup match between India and Pakistan.

One Taniyaa Mehta tweeted: " Did you guys watch the new Pakistan ad where they mocked our indian officer abhinandan? Well, we all make ads and try to put each other down especially when sports is involved. All I have to say is, just get it back India and show them who we are! #worldcup."

Another netizen said: "Dear @icc what happens to your moral code of conduct when @TheRealPCB mocks india AIF pilot abhinandan with their tv advert. Or only your special focus was only on @msdhoni @BCCI ? @Ra_THORe kindly acknowledge please, this is utter disgrace."

One Twitter user Megha said: "This is the our hero’s personality, no one can remain untouched. But next time plz use some good actors. Btw #ShikharDhawan exclusion must be a relief for many competitors #CWC19 #abhinandan."
