New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that he, along with the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, will not celebrate the festival of colours - Holi this time, in wake of the violence that hit the North East areas of the national capital, recently.

Addressing the media here, Kejriwal said the peace efforts had proved successful in Old Garhi Mandu village, where all the displaced victims had agreed to shift to their houses on Thursday morning.

The violence in North-East Delhi areas, which was triggered by protests over the CAA, had claimed 46 lives while leaving more than over 200 people injured.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier in the day, said that he has decided not to participate in any 'Holi Milan programme' this year, due to the threat of Covid-19.

In a post on social media, the Prime Minister said, ''Experts across the world have advised to reduce mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Hence, this year, I have decided not to participate in any Holi Milan programme.''

Many ministers have also decided not to hold Holi Milan programmes, in view of COVID-19.
