AAP confronts Delhi Chief Electoral Officer over BJP's objectionable hoardings

| @justearthnews | Apr 05, 2024, at 04:45 am

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Thursday met Delhi Chief Electoral Officer P Krishnamurthy over objectionable hoardings and posters placed by the Bharatiya Janata Party across the national capital.

“The BJP has placed many objectionable hoardings across Delhi; at some places, they have even used the photo of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,” Delhi Minister Atishi Marlena Singh alleged.

“We (AAP) and our legal team filed a complaint against this six days ago, but surprisingly, no action has been taken yet. It's worrying as it raises questions over the level playing field for Lok Sabha elections,” Atishi said.

She said, “It has happened for the first time in the history of the country that the sitting Chief Minister (Kejriwal) and convener of the national party were arrested after the announcement of the Lok Sabha polls; bank accounts of a major opposition party were frozen

"The Income Tax Department is sending notices to political parties amid campaigning; and the AAP office was sealed for four days.”

The whole country is worried whether all the parties are getting a level playing field in the Lok Sabha elections because if no action can be taken on these hoardings and posters in these six days, then what will happen to the bigger issues? Atishi questioned.

She said that the party will seek an appointment from the Election Commission if no action is taken by the Delhi chief electoral officer’s office.

Raising concerns that the poll panel is not giving appointments to the opposition parties, Atishi said, “This Lok Sabha election is becoming historic for all the sad reasons.”
