Bilaspur: The date for updating Aadhar cards has been extended to September 14 in Himachal Pradesh.

At a review meeting of the District Level Aadhaar Monitoring here on Sunday, Dr Nidhi Patel, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) said that the residents of the district would now be able to get their Aadhaar cards updated free of cost by September 14.

She said that the government has extended the date for the free update of Aadhaar cards from June 14 to September 14, 2023.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents of the district that those citizens who have not updated their Aadhaar cards in the last 8 to 10 years must also update all the documents along with their identity card and proof of address so that they don’t face any problem taking advantage of any government scheme in the coming years.

She instructed the people working in the Common Service Centre to check the documents properly while making Aadhaar cards.

The ADC said that it was necessary to get the Aadhaar biometric updated for the children who have completed 5 and 15 years of age and also to get an Aadhaar card made for the children of 0 to 5 years who did not get their Aadhaar card updated after completing 7 and 17 years.

She said that after 5 and 15 years, it was necessary to update the photo of the children's face, mobile number, fingerprints, address, etc. in Aadhaar.
