A bus with Indian pilgrims returning from Nepal's Triveni lost control and slipped into a pit on Saturday, leaving at least 60 passengers injured.

Seventy devotees from Gorakhpur district’s Pipiganj and Campirganj were returning from the Triveni Dham in Nepal.

The bus overturned into a ditch near the India-Nepal border, 500 m away from the Thuthibari border, India Today reported.

Nepal Police rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers.

All the injured were admitted to the Prithvi Chand District Hospital in Nepal’s Nawal Parasi district, the report said.

The district magistrate of Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj got in touch with the officials in Nepal after the accident, it said.

Officials from India have been sent to the neighbouring country to help the injured.
