5.5 earthquake hits Tripura, tremors felt in Assam

Agartala, Jan 3 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit Ambassa area in Tripura state of India on Tuesday, officials said.

As per the USGS website, the epicentre of the quake was located at latitude 24.016 degrees north and longitude 92.006 degrees east and at a depth of 36.1 kms.

No casualty has been reported so far.

Tremors were also felt in Assam and other north-eastern states.

The quake was felt at around 2:42 pm.
