Mumbai/IBNS: A four-year-old boy has been killed in Mumbai after a speeding car, driven by a 19-year-old teenager, hit him, media reports said Sunday.

The accident occurred near the Ambedkar College in the Wadala area.

According to the police, the victim and his family lived on pavements.

The boy- Ayush Laxman Kinvade's-father is a worker.

Sandeep Gole, who was driving a Hyundai Creta, is a resident of Vile Parle.

A probe is underway in the case.

The incident comes days after a state-run  Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) bus rammed into some vehicles on a busy road in Mumbai's Kurla (West) leaving seven dead and injuring 42.

More than 20 vehicles were also damaged in the crash, which took place on December 9 and was captured on CCTV.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways last week said Maharashtra was among the states that have witnessed the highest number of road accidents in the last five years.
