4 NDFB(S) militants and a arms dealer nabbed in Meghalaya

Guwahati, June 29 (IBNS) : Security forces have apprehended four hardcore militants of NDFB(S), including a self -styled commander and a arms dealer in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district on Sunday, police said on Monday.

Following a tip-off, the Meghalaya police launched an operation at Byndihati village in the hill district and nabbed the militants and arms dealer.

“We have apprehended the militants who were trying to smuggle explosives from Meghalaya to Assam,” a top police official said.

The nabbed militants were identified as B Boro, a self – styled commander of the NDFB, his aide Santosh Kharkekary, G Gayari and D Basumatry.

“We have also arrested the arms dealer B Deb Varma,” the police official said.

Police recovered 144 gallantine sticks and 126 detonators from their possession.
