21 arrested in Uttar Pradesh violence over cow slaughter rumour

MaIpuri, Uttar Pradesh, Oct 10 (IBNS) At least 21 people have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district after a mob went on rampage allegedly after rumours of cow slaughter, reports said.

everal shops were burned and two police vehicles  torched in the violence on Friday.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police of the area has been suspended following the incident.

The violence took place after rumours spread that a cow that was grazing in a field was taken away for slaughter by four men. This led to mob attacks on few houses.
